We’ve registered thousands of new voters, recruited great
candidates…but we cannot continue our momentum without your vote on Tuesday.

Absentee Ballot Update
Pennsylvania voters that cannot make it to the polls on Election Day can vote by mail via absentee ballot. If you need an absentee ballot, follow these simple steps:
- Download the application form by clicking here.
- Print and complete the application. If you can any questions, call Lackawanna County Voter Services at 570-963-6737.
- Mail or hand deliver your application to Lackawanna County Voter Services so that they will receive it no later than 5:00 pm on Tuesday, 31 October 2017.
- Voter Services will then mail a ballot to you. When you receive it, complete it right away and mail or hand deliver your ballot so that it is received by the Board of Elections no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, 3 November 2017.

Executive Committee meeting to fill vacancies
The Executive Committee of the Republican Party of Lackawanna County will meet:
Monday, 7 August 2017, 6:30 p.m.
Republican HQ, 400 Spruce Street, Suite 100, Scranton, PA 18503
The purpose of the meeting will be to interview candidates that present themselves to fill vacant Republican nominations to include but not be limited to a four-year Scranton City Council seat, due to the death of Rich Johnson; a four-year Scranton School Board seat, because former school Director Chris Phillips withdrew; a two-year Carbondale Area School Board Region 1 seat, because Nancy Mark resigned in March( Region 1 includes Carbondale’s 6th Ward and Fell Twp.); a two-year Throop council seat, because Thomas Lukasewicz resigned in January; a four-year La Plume Twp. supervisor seat, because Paul Mahon died in March; and two-year auditor seats in Fell and Glenburn townships. We will also conduct any other business which may come before the Committee including, but not limited to filling said vacancies.
If any recognized Committee wishes to make a recommendation, they should do so prior to the meeting.
Interested candidates in filling one of the above vacancies should express their interest by writing to the Republican Party of Lackawanna County at 400 Spruce Street, Suite 400, Scranton, PA 18503 or by emailing lackawannagop@gmail.com. Correspondence should include a letter expressing their desire to seek the nomination as well as any other background information they wish to share.

Pre-Primary Endorsement Meeting

in Clarks Summit for the purpose of interviewing candidates seeking the

Thinking about running for Magisterial District Judge in Lackawanna County?
Magisterial District Judges are elected by the citizens
of the magisterial district in which they serve. The term of a District Judge
is six years. In order to become a District Judge, individuals must possess the
following qualifications:
1.
21 years of age
2.
Resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
3.
Resident of his/her magisterial district for a
one-year period prior to election
4.
Certified by the Administrative Office of
Pennsylvania Courts as successfully completing a rigorous training and
education program administered by the Minor Judiciary Education Board or Attorney
admitted to the Bar in Pennsylvania

At a recent
meeting of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania, we elected a new
Chairman and officers to serve the Republicans of the Commonwealth for
the next four years. The officers elected were:

- Bernadette “Bernie” Comfort, Vice Chair, Lehigh County
- D. Raja, Treasurer, Allegheny County
- Andy Reilly, Secretary. Delaware County (re-elected)

Calling all Candidates!
2017 is a municipal election year. There are literally hundreds of positions across the County that will be on the ballot at every level of government. We are hoping you will help us build on the momentum of the 2016 Election by considering getting involved in local government.
Why should you get involved in local government?
Local governments are the most important when it comes to quality of life. Local government is the government closest to the people and is critically important to our region. Why? Because issues like public safety, school district policies, infrastructure development/maintenance, and local taxation are all impacted mightily by our local governments. Plus, getting involved at this level gives you the perfect opportunity to really make a difference in the lives of our communities.
