114th District Update

The Honorable Mike Turzai, Speaker of the House, has declared a Special Election to fill the vacancy in the 114th Legislative District for March 12, 2019.

Because this is a Special Election, there is no Primary Election to nominate a candidate.  Instead, the political parties will designate a candidate to represent their respective party in the Special Election.

The Republican Party of Lackawanna County will accept applications from potential candidates until 4:00 p.m. on 11 January 2019.  Applications can be transmitted electronically or by mail but in either case must be delivered by the deadline.

All applications shall include the following three items:

1. Letter of intent 
2. Copy of current voter registration card
3. Resume

The 114th Legislative District Committee of the Republican Committee will meet on Tuesday, 15 January 2019 at 6:00 p.m. to interview candidates in order to make a recommendation to the Executive Committee of the County Committee.

The Executive Committee will meet on Thursday, 17 January 2019 at 6:30 p.m. to interview candidates and make a final decision on who will represent the Republican Party in the Special Election.

Both meetings will occur at Republican Headquarters, 400 Spruce Street, Suite 100, Scranton, PA 18503.  Interested candidates should plan to attend both meetings.
